Slides for "Communicating Success Case Studies in Complex Organizations" (includes presentation notes) Abstract: Success case studies can be an effective way to identify underlying patterns, relationships, and dynamics that lead to program success or failure. Identifying successful cases is especially important in complex evaluations, such as Clinical and Translational Science Awards, where successes are definitionally complex and often do not develop in linear or predictable ways. For success case studies to be fully effective, however, evaluators need to find innovative ways to communicate them to diverse stakeholders, who may see them as simply anecdotes or unconnected “stories.” In this talk, we will discuss different approaches we have used at the UC Davis Clinical and Translational Science Center (CTSC) for presenting success case studies to CTSC leadership, advisory boards, and the broader campus community.
